St Peter & St Paul
South Petherton, with the Seavingtons
and the Lambrooks
We have a generous God through whom we enjoy so many gifts; and He expects us to be generous in return. Money is one way in which to make these gifts a tangible recognition of God’s love for us.
In the Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians, it is said:
“Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (c9: 6-7)
Doing God’s work does not come cheap. Like so many historic parish churches there is never enough money to go round, to pay for the ongoing mission of the church, as well as the upkeep of buildings to keep them in good repair for future generations.
Contrary to what many people imagine, the parish church receives no “subsidy” from anyone: it has to meet all its costs from giving and from activities it organises. These costs amount to well over £2,000 per week.
We are always delighted to receive one-off or regular donations. Cheques can be sent to the Rector at The Rectory, Hele Lane, South Petherton, Somerset TA13 5DQ.
Donations can also be gift aided: do ask for the necessary forms if you qualify for this facility.
